“Skyes” Seized 2/20/13-HW+ Donations Needed

Skyes was found living in horrible conditions (see photo above) by the LPD and Lexington Animal Control Officer Sam Fritts . He was found underweight, chained to a pole, with little room to move around “living” in a trash pile surrounded in his own feces. His now former “owner” has been charged with animal violations and was forced to surrender him to the authorities.

Skyes was immediately taken into the Animal Hospital where he was boarded, vetted, bathed, and tested for any intestinal parasites/ailments. It was found that Skyes is Heartworm positive, he also has intestinal worms (Hookworms primarily which he is being treated for), he was loaded with fleas/ear mites (also being treated) and he is underweight. Skyes ribs and backbone are visible but he has not yet began to loose his muscle mass, he was lucky to be found before his body suffered even more damage by the hands of his now former “owner”. Skyes is a black Pit mix, estimated to be around 4-5 years old, and while he is a little scared he still wags his tail for us, the vet staff, LACO Sam Fritts, and has been friendly to everyone that has interacted with him.

Skyes will need a home to go soon, foster or permanent. Pits and Pit X are hard to place so please share him with any Pittie lovers you know and ask them to do the same. Skyes seems to be a good boy that has had a rough life, we want to see this change! Skyes deserves to finally know how good life can be when you are a loved dog, he has only experienced the bad life for his 4-5 years on earth, it is about time he is able to see LIFE differently!

Donations for his vet care, neuter, and Heartworm treatment are greatly needed. Paypal users can click on the donate link on your screen or Donations can be mailed to-Ginger’s Fund FOS-DCNC, PO Box 1036, Thomasville, NC 27361. As always thank you for your support!
