Thomasville Animal Control Officer Candace Lewis called us for help regarding a puppy that a fellow officer came across at the Cushwa Stadium on Memorial Park Dr.. The emaciated puppy was in great need of medical help and was transported to Davidson Animal Hospital to get the immediate medical care she needed.

Dr. Hedrick has estimated her to be 6-9 months of age, she only weighs 6 pounds and she is deaf. She has no muscle mass, all of her bones are protruding, her eyes are infected, nails are over grown and she is loaded with Hookworms.

Dr. Hedrick also found blood in her mouth, her gums were pale and through further examination noted that she had likely been exposed to rat poision. He administered vitamin K, B12, and iron to combat the toxins and she is being closely monitored…Dr. Hedrick has named her Louise.

Louise was very lucky to have been spotted by the officer. As if being emaciated and poisoned was not enough to have quickly ended her life, not being able to hear could have easily resulted in her being attacked by another animal or hit by a car. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

Donations are greatly needed for Louise’s extensive medical care. Donations can be made online through the donate button on this page, through our FB homepage, or by mail to: Ginger’s Fund, PO Box 1036, Thomasville, NC 27361.
