We had a horrible case that came into Ginger’s Fund on 9/09/13. He is a 2yr old Boxer, picked up by County Animal Control as a “stray” with horrific injuries all of which were covered in maggots and badly infected. This boy was most likely attacked by another animal days ago. He is underweight, has major lacerations (3-4 inches long) and deep wounds (at least 2 inches deep) that are abscessed, oozing with infection and all of the wounds were covered in maggots/eggs (the white/yellow powdery substance you see in the pics are fly eggs [underdeveloped maggots]).
He is being treated at Davidson Animal Hospital for his injuries. He was given a capstar pill to kill the maggots and was bathed to remove them. He has drainage tubes to help clear out the abscessed wounds and is on antibiotics.
Donations are greatly needed for his medical care. The infection has to be addressed first and foremost and then he will need surgical repair. Any amount is greatly appreciated and all donations are tax deductible (Ginger’s Fund FOS-DCNC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit). Donations can be made online by clicking the donate button on at the top corner of the screen or by mail to Ginger’s Fund FOS-DCNC, PO Box 1036, Thomasville, NC 27361.
