“Roger” Seized 4/9/13 Donations/Placement Needed

Lexington Animal Control Officer Sam Fritts rescued this sweet boy he named Roger after finding him chained outside severely emaciated and in need of desperate help. We met Officer Fritts at the animal hospital and met this SWEET boy who was so happy to have us sit with him, talk to him, give him treats (of course), and be loved on! He is in pitiful shape and is going to need all of our love, support and prayers to make a full recovery.

Medical Findings:

This sweet boy is a 2yr old Pit X…he weighed in at only 22.6lbs. Roger is severely emaciated (a little wobbly on his feet as well) and his muscle mass is gone-his body was literally eating itself to stay alive. His teeth had some sort of silver substance/possible paint on them-not sure where or what this came from (see photo). His nails were so long that his poor toes were separated and he could not place his paws flat on the ground (he had to keep them at an angle-see photo), they were getting caught on everything because of their length and curl. He also has some pressure soars on his pelvic bone from not having any body meat to cushion him when he sits, and his ears were in horrible shape as well (see photo)

As of today (4/9/13) Roger has been vaccinated, had his nails clipped, tested for parasites (HW negative!), given a full physical exam, had his ears treated, fed, watered, de-wormed, and is currently getting the care he needs-being fed every 4hrs, monitored by the vet staff, and receiving some much needed TLC. We are in need of donations for this little guy for his current and future vet care (test, medical treatment, animal hospital stay, neuter when he healthy enough, etc).

Roger will also need a wonderful home (foster or permanent) when he is given the all clear from Dr. Hedrick (email us at GingersFund@live.com if you can help). This boy is a gem and is very mild mannered, he is such a sweetheart and did not mind any of us constantly messing with him, touching him all over, and he even surprisingly takes food vigorously (because he is starving) yet very gently from our hands <3!
