The Lexington Police Department was responding to a pick-up call on December 25th, 2013 when they found this little guy injured and in need of help. Apparently he was hungry and went over to the neighbors house looking for food. He went up to the neighbors big dog trying to sneak some food for himself and he was attacked. His “owners” called the LPD to have him picked up and be taken to the animal shelter. His now previous “owners” signed him over to the police department and they called us so the little guy could get the medical care he needed. The rescuing officers decided to name him “Snow Ball”.

Snow Ball was immediately taken to Davidson Animal Hospital where Dr. Hedrick came in to see him. He has a major bite wound under his chin, his left eye is injured, his front legs has a few bruised places on them with missing fur, and his ribs may also be bruised- no physical damage can be seen but he cries when touched in this area. Snow Ball was also covered in fleas. Dr. Hedrick cleaned his wounds and they will be surgically repaired when no infection is present.

This sweet little guy is only around 8 months old and he weighs 19.6 lbs. He was treated, fed, watered, given a nice warm blanket, a toy and some pain medication to help him rest comfortably. This poor little boy has not had a very good Christmas :(. We will have more updates on him tomorrow. Keep him in your thoughts he is a little shaken up and we know he has be hurting all over.

*Snow Ball’s former “owner” has been cited for allowing his animal to run at large in the city limits and also for not having a rabies vaccination. The owner of the dog who attacked Snow Ball was cited for not having a rabies vaccination as well and is still with his family.

Donations are greatly needed for this little guy’s extensive medical care.
