Petey Seized 8/27/13-Donations/Placement Needed
The Lexington Police Department was responding to an animal welfare call on 8/27/13 when they found a male Pit Bull chained, starving and abandoned at a house. His “owners” moved away 2 weeks ago and left him behind, the electricity and water had already been cut off at the house. People in the neighborhood had given him food on occasion but he is still underweight. The officers brought him into Davidson Animal Hospital and decided to name him “Petey”. *Charges will be filed on this case, we will post the charges and court date as they become available.
Dr. Hedrick gave Petey a full exam- Petey is 1 yr old and only weighs 44 lbs, His hip bones and ribs are protruding, he was loaded with fleas and has some hair loss due to a flea bite allergy. His fecal test was positive for intestinal worms and he is Heartworm Positive. Petey also has ear mites and the tips of his ears has missing notches.
Petey is a very sweet boy, he has a wonderful smile and loved all the attention he was getting along with food and treats. He is currently being treated for his flea bite allergy, bathed, vaccinated, de-wormed, treated for ear mites, and he is being fed frequent meals to help him put on weight. Petey will need to be neutered once Dr. Hedrick thinks he is healthy enough and he will also need to begin treatment for Heartworms.
We are in need of donations for his medical care and Petey will also need a foster or adoptive home to go into if a rescue group cannot be found to take him in.
