Sadie Sadie 3 Sadie 2

The Lexington Police Department was responding to an animal welfare call on 11/4/13 where they found this little girl in rough shape. Her owners apparently moved to Florida and left her behind. She is skinny, has hair loss, many scabs and she has bite wounds on her ears most likely from another dog. She was brought to Davidson Animal Hospital last night but she managed to escape off of the animal control truck in the dark and after hours of the authorities and vet staff searching for her she was found in the lobby of the Wake Forest Baptist Health Lexington Hospital around 3am. Lt. Carter took her home with her until the Animal Hospital re-opened in the morning so she could be brought in for treatment. <3

She cowers when being approached and flinches when she is touched. We were told that it was said that her now former owners were not very nice to her and it is apparent by her body language. Even though she cowers and is scared she has yet to show any aggression throughout all of her exams. She is a very sweet little girl and the vet staff is already head over heals in love with her :).

Medical Findings/Treatments Thus Far:

*Fleas- treated

*Skin Scrape was performed-nothing was found but they suspect she has Sarcoptic mange due to hair loss patterns and scabs (easily treated, not genetic) -She has been given a bath and Paramite Dip

*Fecal Test- Roundworms ++ -being de-wormed

*Bite wounds on both ears-being treated

*Heartworm  Negative (!)

*Weight 22lbs

*Estimated age 8 months old-Terrier Mix

*She has also now been vaccinated

Once her nutrition level is up and she has been cleared of roundworms she will be able to be spayed.

We are greatly in need of donations for her care. Donations can be made online through the donation link at the top of this page or by mail to: Ginger’s Fund FOS-DCNC, PO Box 1036, Thomasville, NC 27361.
