Lizzy Seized 12/13/13-Donations Needed

 Lizzy 9 Lizzy 6 Lizzy 12 Lizzy 4

The Lexington Police Department (LPD) was following up on an animal welfare check on the night of 12/13/13 when they found this little girl. She was on a heavy chain wrapped around a pole with less than 2 feet of chain to move around on. Her fur was wet from the cold soaking rains of the day(s), she was noticeably underweight, hungry and in need of help. The house had no power and no one could remember the last time she was fed or watered (one of her former “owners” said she might have been fed/watered on Wednesday-3 days earlier). Allegedly the people where in the process of moving and this little one was being left behind. The LPD used their bolt cutters to free her and got her to safety…we named her Lizzy.

Lizzy was immediately taken to Davidson Animal Hospital where she was seen by Dr. Hedrick. She weighs 32 lbs. It is hard to see in these pics due to her fur length but her ribs, pelvic bone, and spine are protruding. First and foremost Dr. Hedrick fed and watered Lizzy. Then the other test were performed. Her fecal test was positive for intestinal parasites and she is being de-wormed and treated. Her ears have been eat up with mites and it has damaged the outer edges of her ears (only cosmetic)-ear mites treated. Her blood test came back negative for Heartworms (!) and she has been aged at 12 months old. Lizzy is in heat and will need to be spayed very soon.

Lizzy is a very sweet little girl, a little timid but that will change in the coming days. Lizzy is currently undergoing treatment, getting her nutrition level/weight up by being fed frequent meals and she is being vaccinated.

*Charges against her now former “owners” will be filed. We will post the charges and court dates as they become available*

Donations are greatly needed to cover her medical care, test, treatments, and eventually spay.
